There are also many Steam titles to go through (there is like a million bajillion games on Steam) and games on consoles that are incredibly obscure like the Sharp X68000 and even old school Amiga and Commodore Computers! This is one of the craziest blog concepts I've seen on this site but oh my god this sounds so amazing and ambitious! That being said, feel free to go out and play anything that remotely resembles a game. You could play a thousand games, but it won't be worth much if they weren't meaningful to you. This is why I think it's good to come back to a game another day to have a break from it. Sometimes you're just not up for playing a certain type of game or for playing games at all.

Did you play another game in its series and you wanted more of that? Did you look at the gameplay and have no idea how it worked? (Romance of the Three Kingdoms is a series like that for me, how does that even work?) There's also the tendency to play a game for a little bit, but not really giving it a chance. You might want to have a little part at the start of each entry about what drew you to this particular game. Every game you pick to play should be meaningful to some degree to you. I've seen a lot of people try to approach stuff like this by playing as many short games as they can. I think this is a good opportunity to try out some new stuff.
I think you should start out with some games you are familiar with so you can get comfortable with writing your entries. I tend to want to beat my games and my time limits are much longer. You can still play games on top of it, but spending a week with it, or before if you beat it before then. I think it's a pretty interesting idea to play a new game every week and then writing you thoughts on it. Don't skip the tutorials because you can't enjoy a game when you can't properly engage with it. This is usually when I'm getting into a genre, but it works for ones where I have a huge list of platformers or something, and I want to play a bunch of them.
